Religious Education
"Religion is like going out to dinner with friends. Everyone may order something different but everyone can still sit at the same table."Dalai Lama
Lessons are usually based around an enquiry question which is explored through the use of videos, artefacts, studying sacred stories, meeting religious leaders, visiting places of worship or class discussion. The children are encouraged to develop their own thinking, recognise other people’s viewpoints and give and explain their own ideas in response to these questions. These skills and knowledge will give the children the opportunity to develop respect and understanding for different cultures and beliefs to support them as they grow older.
In the autumn term we used the Somerset agreed syllabus (Awareness, Mystery and Value) to form the basis of the children’s learning. From January 2026, we will be using teaching resources provided by NATRE (National Association of Teachers of Religious Education).
*Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE.
